NFL Power Rankings, Week 7: Resetting the League Pecking Order after Six Weeks

Hello fellow football fans! After a couple week hiatus from the Power Rankings due to living in the wake of Hurrican Helene in the mountains of North Carolina, I am back!

Truthfully, I am thankful to be back so soon. Many in my area are still without power, water, internet, and road access, while many more lost their homes entirely or even loved ones in this tragic natural disaster. If you would join me in prayer for my home state, I would be most grateful. And if you are so inclined to donate to help those in need from the effects of this disaster, please reach out to me via my X profile (@thebetz93).

In moments like these, this game I love and follow so closely becomes so small, and perspective sets in. I am so very blessed to have the opportunity to share my opinions on football with you, but taking care of my family and helping those worse off than I has taken priority, not just for myself, but for a host of my neighbors, family, and friends in this area. It’s truly incredible to see so many people come together to help each other in crisis. A reminder that there is indeed goodness in this world, despite so many things that try to divide us.

All that said, I am so excited to be back to full capacity as a writer and podcaster for this great Network! For these Power Rankings, I wanted to take a step back and reset my perspective on the NFL’s 32 teams. Which teams do I trust right now to execute and win? Can anybody stake a claim to the One spot besides the 2x defending champs? We answer that and more below in the Week 7 edition of my NFL Power Rankings:

1. KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (5-0)

One-Liner: They’re not perfect, but I can’t bump them from the 1 spot until someone proves they can take it from them.

2. MINNESOTA VIKINGS (5-0)

One-Liner: This is quietly one of the best-coached teams in football led by Kevin O’Connell and DC Brian Flores.

3. DETROIT LIONS (4-1)

One-Liner: This may be the league’s most complete team despite the horrific loss of ED Aiden Hutchinson due to injury.

4. HOUSTON TEXANS (5-1)

One-Liner: Few QBs come up as big in big moments than CJ Stroud.

5. BALTIMORE RAVENS (4-2)

One-Liner: Is Lamar Jackson the league MVP again?

6. BUFFALO BILLS (4-2)

One-Liner: Adding Amari Cooper should help complete an offense that needed a coverage dictator on the perimeter.

7. GREEN BAY PACKERS (4-2)

One-Liner: Jordan Love is rounding into form, as is a fast, physical defense.

8. SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS (3-3)

One-Liner: They’ve got too much talent to hang around .500 for much longer if guys get healthy.

9. WASHINGTON COMMANDERS (4-2)

One-Liner: Can we talk about how this OL is playing way above expectations so far in 2024?

10. PITTSBURGH STEELERS (4-2)

One-Liner: Everyone wants to talk QB, but the bigger deal is this Defense getting key contributors back over the coming weeks.

11. ATLANTA FALCONS (4-2)

One-Liner: The running game’s Week 6 performance was a better glimpse of how the Falcons really want to win in 2024.

12. TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (4-2)

One-Liner: Chris Godwin is playing at a 1st-Team All-Pro level for Tampa.

13. CHICAGO BEARS (4-2)

One-Liner: Can Caleb Williams and co. keep showing improvement against better teams moving forward?

14. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (3-2)

One-Liner: There’s something off in Philly, and while they have a great roster, I’m not sold that they’re a real contender in the NFC.

15. LOS ANGELES CHARGERS (3-2)

One-Liner: More of that Justin Herbert moving forward please!

16. NEW YORK JETS (2-4)

One-Liner: Saleh out, Adams in. Is it enough to rescue a slowly eroding season for the New York Aaron Rodgers?

17. DALLAS COWBOYS (3-3)

One-Liner: This ranking proves I have too much trust in Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb to figure things out.

18. INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (3-3)

One-Liner: The Anthony Richardson experience is… really still just waiting to start.

19. SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (3-3)

One-Liner: The defense has been atrocious the last few weeks since their hot start and it’s putting too much pressure on Geno.

20. CINCINNATI BENGALS (2-4)

One-Liner: If anyone can rescue this nightmare start to the season for Cincy, it’s probably Joe Burrow.

21. DENVER BRONCOS (4-3) – PLAYED ON TNF

One-Liner: The Bo Nix experience is a rollercoaster, but no defense has been more consistently good than Denver’s.

22. NEW YORK GIANTS (2-4)

One-Liner: The front 4 is legitimately one of the best in football at getting after the QB and it’s keeping the Giants competitive despite the offense’s struggles.

23. MIAMI DOLPHINS (2-3)

One-Liner: The Dolphins are slowly getting key players back to health, but this 2024 Dolphins season feels way worse than their 2-3 record would indicate.

24. ARIZONA CARDINALS (2-4)

One-Liner: This team isn’t very good yet, but they have a lot of young pieces to be excited about, especially on offense.

25. LOS ANGELES RAMS (1-4)

One-Liner: Can Cooper Kupp’s return to the field give the Rams enough offense to mitigate their atrocious defense?

26. NEW ORLEANS SAINTS (2-5) – PLAYED ON TNF

One-Liner: This is a shocking fall-off after a dynamic 2-game start to the season for the Saints, and I don’t think it gets better anytime soon.

27. TENNESSEE TITANS (1-4)

One-Liner: The defense is great, but the offense just cannot produce consistently enough in the passing game for the Titans to win games.

28. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (1-5)

One-Liner: Drake Maye should have every Patriots fan fully engaged again after his impressive 3-TD performance in his first start.

29. LAS VEGAS RAIDERS (2-4)

One-Liner: One wonders after the Raiders traded their best offensive player if maybe their best defensive player could also be on his way out…

30. CLEVELAND BROWNS (1-5)

One-Liner: The return of Nick Chubb is a massive boost, not only on the field, but for morale in that locker room as well.

31. JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (1-5)

One-Liner: The Jags could be in for major changes if they were to lose to Drake Maye and the Patriots in London this weekend.

32. CAROLINA PANTHERS (1-5)

One-Liner: Exciting Rookie RB Jonathan Brooks is on track to make his NFL debut soon, giving Panthers fans at least a little something to look forward to.
