Myles Garrett Requests a Trade, Now What?

On the morning of February 3rd the best payer on the Cleveland Browns announced on Twitter X that he has formally requested a trade. Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett released a written statement saying that wanting to win a Super Bowl being the goal of his career and not the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Just last week Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry said that he would not trade Myles Garrett. He was adamant about that, and he even added that no matter what the trade offer is. He will not trade Garrett. Despite of what happened today the team has not changed their stance on Myles Garret.

On ESPN AM 850, longtime Cleveland Browns beat reporter Tony Grossi said that according to his sources the Cleveland Browns are not all interested in trading Myles Garrett, and they are not entertaining any offers for a trade of Myles Garrett. Of course, after this news broke on Twitter X Cleveland Browns fans went into an almost predictable meltdown over this. As we all have the propensity to let our emotions get the better of us, let’s take a deep breathe and exhale for moment and realize that this isn’t the first time this has happened to Andrew Berry as the Cleveland Browns general manager.

In July of 2020 Cleveland Browns pro bowl tight end David Njoku requested a trade. Andrew Berry did meet with him and by May of 2022 Njoku signed a four-year contract extension. In August of 2022 Cleveland Browns running back Kareem Hunt requested a trade. After meeting with Berry, he stayed with the team for two more seasons. Please do not misunderstand me, this is not good for the Cleveland Browns and their fans. But it can be fixed because similar situations have been fixed in the past by this team. As Cleveland Browns fans we cannot control what happens, but we can control our response. All we can do is wait and see
