Mayor’s Offer to the Browns, a Day late and a Dollar short

On the morning of Thursday August 1st ,2024, the city of Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb made an offer to the Cleveland Browns, he is trying to keep the team playing in downtown Cleveland. The offer is for renovations of the current Cleveland Browns stadium located on the shores of Lake Erie. The estimated cost is for $461 million dollars. If the Cleveland Browns accept this offer the 30-year lease with the city would be renewed. But there is a problem with the offer and the stadium.

The current Cleveland Browns Stadium was built in 1999 for the expansion Cleveland Browns. The city had to rush the project to have it completed on time. It was said that they didn’t just corners. But they cut every corner. The stadium was poorly built from the start. And according to Daryl Ruiter of 92.3 the Fan, after he spoke to architects and builders of the stadium. The current foundation on the stadium doesn’t have another 30 years of life. A renovation would be insufficient to fixing the overall structural issues with Cleveland Browns Stadium. It would be best to build a new stadium in a sufficient amount of time.

I have written before that I feel the new dome stadium will be built in Brookpark Ohio. The reason I feel this way is because I see the facts. The current stadium is poorly built, and a renovation would not fix that. The city of Cleveland did make an offer to save face. Mayor Bibb had to show a public effort to his constituents of trying to keep the team downtown. The offer even had a deadline for August 12th ,2024. He knows that the offer won’t be accepted by the Browns. He knows the situation and understands the writing on the wall. The writing says that the Cleveland Browns are moving to Brookpark Ohio.
