Kareem Hunt Comes Home to Cleveland Sunday

On Sunday December 15th at 1pm eastern time, the Cleveland Browns will host the Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs at Huntington Bank Field. More than one of the Kansas City Chiefs players is from the Cleveland area. But only one of them was also a player for the Browns and a native of northeast Ohio.

Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt will be returning to Cleveland on Sunday for the first time since playing for the Browns in 2023. His career in Cleveland was from 2019-2023. In his 5 seasons in Cleveland, he played in 54 games with 677 rushing attempts for 2,285 yards and 25 touchdowns. His career as a Cleveland Brown was productive. He was also a local high school football star in the Cleveland area. From 2010-2012 he was a standout player at Willoughby South High School in the outskirts of Cleveland. His college career was with the Toledo Rockets from 2013-2016. In 2017 he was the third-round pick for Kansas City Chiefs and the 86th pick overall in that draft. He did come into some legal troubles that brought him to Cleveland.

Hunt was released by the Kansas City Chiefs in November of 2018 when a video surfaced of him pushing a woman to the ground and kicking her. No charges were ever filed against Hunt when the woman refused to cooperate with authorities. In February of 2019 Hunt signed with the Cleveland Browns and was on the commissioners exempt list and was suspended until November 4th ,2019. In the 2020 offseason Hunt signed a two-year deal with the Cleveland Browns as a restricted free agent. He stayed with his hometown team until the end of the 2023 season. Kareem Hunt rejoined his original team the Kansas City Chiefs in 2024. How will Browns fans react to seeing him again on the field this Sunday? My guess is that he will be cheered. Because his recent contributions to the Cleveland Browns are much appreciated.
