Jordan Love On Aaron Rodgers: “We Have A Great Relationship”
Packers quarterback Jordan Love has been a part of a few interviews this offseason. His boost in media appearances has come after an exceptional first season in relief of legendary Packers signal-caller Aaron Rodgers that saw him finish second in the league in passing touchdowns (32). He also helped lead Green Bay to within 15 minutes of an NFC Championship Game berth.
His latest media appearance came via Thanalysis, a podcast run by Milwaukee Bucks forward Thanasis Antetokounmpo. On the show earlier this offseason, Love was asked about his relationship with Rodgers, who is now with the Jets in New York. Here is what he had to say:
“We have a great relationship…When you’re in that (quarterback) room together, you’re there every day for multiple hours a day…We have a good relationship…The media is always going to compare everybody in the league…I don’t focus on that stuff. But me and Aaron definitely have a good relationship.”
After getting drafted by the Packers in the first round out of Utah State in 2020, Love would go on to sit behind Rodgers for three seasons before taking over last season. It was a whole lot like when Rodgers sat behind legend Brett Favre for three seasons before taking over in 2008.
The reported “drama” surrounding Rodgers and Love’s relationship was clearly long-winded. Sure, it might have been rocky in the beginning. Nobody likes it when their job is in jeopardy, especially when they have been performing as well as Rodgers was from 2018 to 2021. But No. 12 seemingly took the high road and wanted to help his teammate become a better player, which is exactly what happened. Now, Love is one of the best quarterbacks in football, and the Green Bay Packers are real Super Bowl contenders heading into 2024.
It’s clear that Green Bay has a formula for putting the best production under center in the NFL. If his first full season was any indication, Love should be the next great Packers quarterback, and Aaron Rodgers certainly deserves his fair share of credit for how he handled the whole situation.
