It’s Official the Browns are moving to Brookpark

On the afternoon of Thursday October 17th ,2024, the news leaked that the Cleveland Browns are in fact building a new indoor football facility in Brookpark Ohio. The Browns decided to bypass the renovation of the current Huntington Bank Field in downtown Cleveland. The current stadium was opened in 1999 and the current lease expires at the end of the 2028 season. The new indoor stadium is expected to open in August of 2029. Some Browns fans wanted to stay at the current location for the renovation. But this decision was the right decision for both the Browns and their fans.

When the current stadium was built it was rushed from 1996-1999. It was said that they didn’t just cut some corners, they cut every corner. The reason for the rush was to have the new stadium ready for the 1999 season when the expansion Cleveland Browns were expected to take the field. The city of Cleveland at that time had to have the stadium completed by August 1999 or they could have lost the expansion franchise. It was the circumstances of that time. The current Huntington Bank Field is not structurally sound because of how fast it was built. Now is the opportunity to get it right with a new stadium.

A press conference is expected to take place by the end of this week by the Haslam Sports Group. How the stadium will be funded should be discussed. This is because many people are asking that question. Other details will emerge as time passes and construction begins. Groundbreaking ceremonies should take place in the spring of 2025. That will give construction 4 ½ years to take place. A new state of the art indoor stadium built right and built to last. It is exactly what the most loyal fans in the NFL deserve.
