Is the Cleveland Browns season already over or just beginning?
Late last December on Thursday Night Football at the then named Cleveland Browns Stadium, the Cleveland Browns defeated the New York Jets to secure their 11th win of the 2023 season. With that 11th win the Cleveland Browns clinched an AFC Wildcard berth for the NFL playoffs. It was their second playoff season in 4 years. The team did this despite having 26% of their team salary cap on injured reserve. It was a reason for optimism for Cleveland Browns fans to start the 2024 season.
The Cleveland Browns have now played their first 4 games of the 2024 season. In the opener the loss was disappointing to Dallas. This was mostly because of the lack of offensive production especially in the first half of the game. The Cleveland Browns lone victory was against the currently winless Jacksonville Jaguars. The last two losses were heart breaking because there were missed opportunities to win the games. The bright spot in all this is that the Cleveland Browns defense is still playing at a high level. What is lacking is the offensive production to compliment it. I have said before that injuries on the offense have not helped either.
With the 1-3 start to the Cleveland Browns 2024 season. Criticism of the team has been justified. Fans want to see the effort and results from 2023. But it is 2024 and every season is different. This is both head coach Kevin Stefanski and general manager Andre Berry’s 5th season with the Cleveland Browns. Thus far they have delivered stability, a winning record, two playoff seasons, and a playoff win. To pull the plug on the 2024 season and to clean house would be premature. There are still 13 games to be played. Let the team get healthy and get the offense going. And let’s see what happens before making front office, coaching, and personnel decisions
