Has the Culture Changed for the Worse with the Browns?

The Cleveland Browns continue to prepare for their week 6 game in Philadelphia Pennsylvania against the Philadelphia Eagles next Sunday afternoon at 1 pm eastern time. The Browns have a disappointing 1-4 record. And the mood or the vibe in Cleveland is not good. Last season despite the rash of injuries the Cleveland Browns had an 11-6 record and made the NFL playoffs with an AFC wildcard berth. The injuries are still happening this year, but the wins are a lot harder to get.

Last week the Cleveland Browns lost to the Washington Commanders on the road by a score of 34-13, it was the worst loss of the season thus far. This week they play a Philadelphia Eagles team on the road, and the Eagles are coming off a bye week. The Eagles are much healthier than the Browns. As I write this article the Browns are a 9-point underdog in this game. As the losses pile up, the confidence from the fans in the coach and front office will go down.

Last offseason both head coach Kevin Stefanski and general manager Andrew Berry received contract extensions. And they have been in their roles with the Cleveland Browns organization since 2020. A lot can be pointed to with a bad start to a season. But the players coaches are still saying the right things to the local sports media.

If you listen to the coaches and players press conferences they sound as if it is business as usual in game prep for the next game. They admit that their record is not what they want it to be. The coaches and players out in the open seem to show confidence in turning the season around for the better. And if they want to avoid a total collapse, they must start winning games., regardless of the culture. Because bad can get a lot worse really fast in the NFL.
