Gunner Olszewski out, all others a full go for the Steelers in Week 3
The Pittsburgh Steelers exited Week 2 of the 2023 NFL season both better in the win column and in the long-term injury department. Losing three players to the Reserve/Injured List last week, the Steelers didn’t have anyone who had already been ruled out for Sunday Night’s game in Las Vegas. But even though the rest of the roster was hoping to be available, the injury report started off the week being quite lengthy.
With the Steelers having a short turnaround after playing on Monday night, it was expected that some players would be limited early in the week. In the final injury report this week courtesy of Steelers.com, there are no new names that appear on the list, and only one player has an injury status for the week.

There were two players who did not practice on Wednesday that we’re not injured but were simply the coach’s decision to give them a veteran’s day off. Guard Isaac Seumalo and cornerback Patrick Peterson both were out on Wednesday but returned on Thursday as expected. Both players were full participants on Friday and will play on Sunday night.
Minkah Fitzpatrick left the Steelers game Monday night and was taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons with his chest injury. Although there was good reports from there not being a prolonged issue with Fitzpatrick, he did not practice on Wednesday. On Thursday Fitzpatrick told reporters he was going to play on Sunday, and during practice he returned to be a limited participant. On Friday, Fitzpatrick progressed to a full participant and has no injury status for Sunday’s game.
Another player who did not finish the game on Monday night was wide receiver Gunner Olszewski with a concussion. Being in the NFL’s protocol, Olszewski did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday which was almost enough to rule him out at that time. But with no movement in regards to practice participation on Friday, Olszewski has now been officially ruled out for Week 3.
On the injury report every day of the young regular season, Larry Ogunjobi is once again listed with his foot injury. Not practicing on Wednesday or Thursday, Ogunjobi continued with the same story where he returned to practice on Friday and has no injury status for Sunday.
Three players who were not known to be injured prior to practice on Wednesday were safety Damontae Kazee, outside linebacker Markus Golden, and rookie tight end Darnell Washington. On Thursday, Kazee returned as a full participant while Golden and Washington were listed as limited. Friday saw all three players return to practice as full participants and all three a clear to play on Sunday night.
