Green Bay Would Be Stacked With Devin White
With linebacker Devin White about to become a free agent, could a team like the Green Bay Packers have interest? They already have two quality linebackers in the speedy Quay Walker and former First-Team All-Pro De’Vondre Campbell. Also, backup linebacker Isaiah McDuffie had a career year last season. So, the Packers don’t exactly need another linebacker.
But, why not just load up on defense after bringing in a new, aggressive defensive coordinator in Jeff Hafley? Bringing in the former Super Bowl winner in Devin White would be a wise move from GM Brian Gutekunst. Here is why:
White is a Stud
Imagine if Green Bay added another All-Pro linebacker. Imagine if Green Bay added someone with over 560 career tackles and 23 career sacks. That someone would be Devin White. Still only 26 years of age, White is one of the more talented sideline-to-sideline linebackers in the NFL. During Tampa’s Super Bowl run in 2020, White recorded a career-high 140 tackles, along with nine sacks. He is capable of playing all over the field. He even improved in pass defense last season recording a career-high six pass deflections and two interceptions.
The former LSU Tiger is the real deal. Bringing White in on a three-year deal to play with a couple of great linebackers in Walker and Campbell would be dangerous for any opposing offense.
How Green Bay Could Utilize Him
Imagine rookie Caleb Williams taking his first NFL snap while looking into the eyes of Quay Walker, De’Vondre Campbell, and Devin White. Scary hours could be coming in Green Bay. Each of these players has recorded at least 120 tackles in a season. Each of these players is either an All-Pro or a champion at the college or professional level. They are all so productive.
If Jeff Hafley could put all of these guys on the field at once, that would be special. With Rashan Gary, Preston Smith, and Kenny Clark rushing the passer, Jaire Alexander and others manning the boundary, that would leave Hafley the opportunity to do whatever he wants with his stud linebackers. This is a great opportunity for Green Bay. They should capitalize.
