Gable Steveson Joins Buffalo Bills, Former WWE Superstar
BREAKING NEWS! Gable Steveson is launching an NFL career, signing with the Buffalo Bills, first broken by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Gable Steveson was an Olympic gold medalist and considered one of the best collegiate wrestlers in history before transitioning to the WWE.
This news broke on Steveson’s 24th birthday, born May 31, 2000. This news also comes exactly four weeks after the WWE released Gable Steveson.
Steveson made a name for himself as an Olympic gold medalist and when he signed with WWE, many thought he could be the next Kurt Angle, a WWE Hall of Famer who made a similar transition. However, Gable only wrestled one televised match in his nearly 3-year WWE career, with other opportunities coming in dark matches. Many wrestling fans consider this to be an underwhelming signing for WWE after all the hype. It’ll be considered a flop, especially since he never wrestled on the main roster and celebrities like Bad Bunny and Logan Paul picked up the industry quicker than Gable Steveson ever did.
Now Gable Steveson approaches a new endeavor on his journey, an NFL player.
Steveson signs a standard rookie deal for three years with the Bills. According to reports, Sean McDermott wants to try Gable Steveson on the defensive line at 6’1” and 265 pounds. This will be the first time Steveson plays football, as he was focused on wrestling during his education.
When it comes to this signing, it is low-risk, high-reward for the Bills organization. If he doesn’t work out, Steveson can be among those roster cuts at the end of preseason play. If it does, Steveson could help a Bills defense that is already decent, allowing only 307.2 yards and 18.3 points per game in 2023.
Steveson was trying to fill the shoes of Kurt Angle in the WWE, but now he is trying to fill the shoes of former Dallas Cowboy “Bullet” Bob Hayes as the only two men to win an Olympic gold medal and a Super Bowl ring.
Could Gable Steveson win a Super Bowl with Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills? Let us know in the comments what you think about the Bills gambling on Gable Steveson on the team.
