Eric Wilson Is Back In Green Bay

Some good news came for Packers fans on Thursday. According to his own Instagram post, linebacker and core special-teamer Eric Wilson will be back with the Packers in 2024. Green Bay fans remember Wilson last year most notably for hustling to recover a Keisean Nixon fumble on a big kick return in the divisional round against the 49ers.

Wilson has always been a quality glue guy during his NFL career. The 29-year-old has played seven years in the NFL after going undrafted out of Cincinnati in 2017. He has had stops with the Vikings, Eagles, Texans, Saints, and will seemingly be back in Green Bay for a second season.

What Wilson does well is a few things. First, he can step in at linebacker if need be. He recorded 122 total tackles back in 2020 with the rival Vikings and also recorded three interceptions. He played in all 17 games last season and recorded 31 total tackles in a reserve role. Perhaps new defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley has a plan for him in his new defensive scheme.

Wilson also has become a core player on special teams for coordinator Rich Bisaccia. He set a career-high last season in special teams snaps with 308. That equates to 72% of the total snaps. Bisaccia also has special teams contributors like Kristian Welch, Corey Ballentine, Keisean Nixon, Robert Rochell, and others returning.

Look for players like Wilson to have a big impact on the outcome of the 2024 season for Green Bay. Players who show hustle and heart on every snap will always have a home in Green Bay. That is for sure.
