Jalen Ramsey expected to miss majority of 2023 with meniscus injury

The Miami Dolphins were thinking they had put together a team which could not just win the AFC East and compete in the highly competitive AFC, but to win a Super Bowl. They made key additions this offseason, and one of them was All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey taking his skills to South Beach.

Unfortunately, the homecoming for Ramsey, who played his college football at Florida State, didn’t last long. In the early portions of Dolphins training camp Ramsey left with a knee injury. Following practice it was unclear the severity of the injury, with Coach McDaniels saying they wouldn’t know how long Ramsey could be out until he is looked at closer by medical staff.

What followed was the news of Ramsey having an injured meniscus in his knee which would require surgery. Friday Ramsey underwent the surgery, which will likely knock him out of the lineup until December 2023, at the earliest.

This per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network:

The Dolphins will hope the other cornerbacks on their defense can stand tall and hopefully keep games from turning into shootouts. With an offense with Tua at quarterback throwing passes to the likes of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, the NFL saw in 2022 just how dynamic the offense can be. Ramsey was brought in to help the defense hold up their end of the bargain, but Miami will now be without the talented cornerback for the foreseeable future.
