DeAndre Hopkins returns to the AFC, signing with the Titans

When it comes to high profile players still on the open market, not many were larger than former Houston Texans and Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. After being released by the Cardinals, due to salary cap reasons, Hopkins shopped around a multitude of teams before making his decision.

The last report was the teams vying for Hopkin’s services were the New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans, and some suggested the Cleveland Browns could be interested, marking a reunion with his former quarterback Deshaun Watson.

Sunday, it seems as if Hopkins has made his choice, and he is going with an incentive-laden contract with the Titans.

When you consider Hopkin’s return to the AFC, you have to wonder what ramifications his return might have. But before you dive down that rabbit hole, it’s important to note the quarterback situation in Tennessee is anything but certain.

Ryan Tannehill is the starter entering training camp, but the team is also going to give rookie Will Levis and second year quarterback Malik Willis every chance to potentially win that job. Of the three possibilities, you have to wonder if Hopkins will be happy with his choice. While the Titans’ offer might have been the most lucrative, it also comes at a risk not just with the quarterback situation, but Hopkins’ history of missing games. His most recent stint with missed games came when he served a suspension for using Performance Enhancing Drugs (PEDs).

The Titans now move forward with a proven receiver, something they haven’t had since they traded A.J. Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles. Will Hopkins make an impact? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
