Cleveland Browns vs. Baltimore Ravens Week 8 preview

On Sunday October 27th ,2024, at 1 pm eastern time, the 1-6 Cleveland Browns will be hosting the 5-2 Baltimore Ravens at Huntington Bank Field. Baltimore is coming off an impressive Monday Night Football road win at Tampa Bay. Cleveland is trying to end a 5-game losing streak and has struggled offensively in the 2024 season. The Browns lost their starting quarterback Deshaun Watson last week to an Achilles Tendon injury. Backup quarterback and number 1 overall pick in 2015 NFL draft Jameis Winston is expected to start for the Browns.

During last week’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals fellow backup quarterback Dorian Thomson-Robinson sustained an injury to his finger on his throwing hand. Due to that situation the Cleveland Browns signed quarterback Bailey Zappe from the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad. He will probably serve as Jameis Winston’s backup against Baltimore. Zappe does have 8 NFL starts under his belt and can play when called upon.  The key matchup in this game will be Baltimore’s offense against the Cleveland defense.

Last Monday night the Baltimore Ravens offense erupted for 41 points in Tampa Bay. Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was 17-22, for 281 passing yards, 5 touchdowns, 0 interceptions. Last Sunday the Cleveland Browns defense held the high-powered Bengals offense to 14 points and under 300 yards. This will be the irresistible force versus the immovable object. Something will have to give in this game.

For the Browns to have a chance of winning the game, the Cleveland Browns offense will have to be productive. The Cleveland offense has yet to score more than 20 points in a game. Last week was the first time that they had over 300 total yards of offense. With Jameis Winston now starting at quarterback, we as Browns fans can always hope for the best.
