Cleveland Browns at Washington Commanders Week 5 Preview
On Sunday October 6th ,2024, at 1pm eastern time the Cleveland Browns travel to our nations capital to take on the Washington Commanders. The Browns are still licking their wounds from two consecutive disappointing losses. Week 3 at home against the New York Giants and week 4 on the road at the Las Vegas Raiders. Meanwhile the Commanders look like a team on the rise with two consecutive impressive wins on the road. Rookie quarter Jayden Daniels has been equally impressive for Washington in his last two starts.
Quarterback Jayden Daniels was drafted by the Washington Commanders with the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. The former LSU quarterback has already paid dividends for the Commanders in his last two games. On Monday Night Football at the Cincinnati Bengals, he completed an astounding 91% of his passes for 254 yards, 2 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, and a quarterback rating of 141.7. Last week at the Arizona Cardinals, he completed 86.7% of his passes for 233 yards, 1 touchdown, 1 interception, and quarterback rating of 96.3. Washington’s offense in the last two weeks has scored a combined 80 points. The Cleveland Browns offense has not scored 80 points in the first 4 games this season.
It appears that the Cleveland Browns defense has it work cut out for them. They will be the key to this game. And more specifically can the Browns defensive line put pressure on Washington’s rookie quarterback? The Browns are almost getting desperate for a win. Going 2-3 is a lot better than going 1-4. In the last 3 weeks, the defense has put this team in position to win games in the 4th quarter. The offense was unable to make plays to get the win. Complimentary football has been lacking in the Browns 3 losses this season. If they expect to win this game, they need put together a complete game. Or this season could get away from the team.
