Cleveland Browns are OK with JOK

On the morning of Wednesday August 14th ,2024, the news broke on X from Adam Schefter that the Cleveland Browns extended Linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah. The extension is for three years and worth $39 million dollars with $25 million guaranteed.  There was speculation that this deal would get done before the end of training camp.  Others have thought the extension would be finalized during the season. Nonetheless the terms of the contract extension were agreed upon and finalized. But, what does this mean for the Cleveland Browns?

Despite the recent legal troubles of their top draft pick DT Michael Hall jr., the Cleveland Browns are showing stability and class. They are acting like a top rate organization that takes care of players that earn their extensions. This was showed by not only this recent move but other moves this offseason.

Running back Nick Chubb was able to get his contract reworked after sustaining and devasting knee injury and Cleveland Browns took care of him. Wide receiver Amari Cooper was able to restructure his final year in his contract and get a $5 million dollar raise this season. And the wide receiver they traded for with Denver, Jerry Jeudy was given an extension. It shows that the Cleveland Browns have an organizational philosophy.

With the offseason and recent moves in 2024 the Cleveland Browns show that they are paying for the player they plan to get on the field. And they are not paying for the player they once had. The analytically driven Cleveland Browns calculate their moves and constantly work to improve their roster. They understand to get better you must keep the good players that are already on the roster. And by keeping Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah they plan on fielding the NFL’s to ranked defense again in 2024 and beyond.
