Chubb Gets Revenge, Browns Beat Steelers, 24-19

On Thursday November 21st the 2-8 Cleveland Browns hosted the 8-2 Pittsburgh Steelers at Huntington Bank Field. The Steelers were a 3.5-point favorite in this game. They had a big home win last Sunday over the Baltimore Ravens 18-16. The Browns lost their last game to the Saints 35-14. This was the first bad weather game of the 2024 season for both teams. And it was thought to be an equalizing factor in the game. The kickoff temperature was 38 degrees Fahrenheit with a mix of rain and snow with 20 mile per hour winds coming off Lake Erie. The weather was a factor in this game.

As the game was played the more snow fell onto the field. It was difficult to see the yard markers by the 4th quarter. Both teams found it to be difficult to pass the ball. Running the ball and avoiding turnovers was key to the game. The last time Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb played the Pittsburgh Steelers he was carted off the field with a career threatening knee injury early in the 2023 season. This game meant a lot to Chubb, and he showed up to play. Chubb had his best game since coming back from injury scoring 2 touchdowns with 11 rushes for 59 yards.  Chubb’s revenge game was also defensive end Myles Garret’s statement game.

Last offseason Myles Garrett was awarded the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award. Steelers linebacker TJ Watt expressed his displeasure of that decision. Garrett said before the game that he wanted to prove why he was the 2023 Defensive Player of the Year. And he backed up his words with 3 quarterback sacks in the first half. The Cleveland Browns defeated the Pittsburgh by a score of 24-19 in a game that looked like it was played in a snow globe. Up next for the Browns is trip to Denver on Monday night December 2nd. The Steelers next game is at Cincinnati on December 1st. Then on December 8th these two teams meet again in a rematch in Pittsburgh. Who knows, maybe it will snow again that day?
