Cavs Grind out 12th Consecutive Win over the Bulls, 119-113
On Monday the 11-0 Cleveland Cavaliers traveled to Chicago Illinois to play the 4-6 Chicago Bulls at the United Center. The Cavaliers were trying to extend their win streak to 12 games to start this season. The Cavaliers had an emotional comeback 105-100 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday night in Cleveland. The Bulls last game was a 125-113 win in Atlanta over the Hawks. Bulls guard Lonzo Ball was listed as out for the game with a wrist injury and forward Zach LaVine was probable with an abductor injury, but he did play in the game. For the Cavs forward Max Strus was out with an ankle injury and forward Emoni Bates was out with a knee injury. The key for the Cavaliers to extend their win streak is to execute their winning formula of offensive efficiency.
The game started with the usual upbeat pace and at the end of the first quarter the Cavaliers trailed by a score of 35-34. In the second quarter the pace continued, and the Cavaliers led at halftime 67-66. In the second half the back-and-forth struggle continued for this game, and at the end of the third quarter the Cavaliers led 95-92. The fourth quarter was no different than the prior three quarters with neither team pulling away from the other. But the Cavaliers persevered and prevailed over the Bulls, 119-113 to win their 12th game in a row to start the season. They are the 8th team in NBA history to start their season 12-0.
Donovan Mitchell led the Cavaliers in scoring with 36 points in 35 minutes. Evan Mobley had another double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds in 31 minutes of play. Up next for this Cavaliers team is the 2-7 Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday at 7:30 pm eastern time in Philadelphia. Can this Cavaliers team make it 13 wins in row to start a season?
