Cavs come back to beat the Nets, 105-100 and go 11-0
On Saturday the 10-0 Cleveland Cavaliers hosted the Brooklyn Nets at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. The Cavaliers went into this game the hottest team in the NBA by starting their season 10-0. And the Cavaliers had a huge win on Friday night against the Golden State Warriors by the score of 136-117. The Brooklyn Nets went into this game with a 4-5 record. They lost their previous game on Friday night in Boston, losing to the defending World Champion Boston Celtics in overtime 108-104. Cavs fans feared that this could be a let down game after an emotional win on the previous night.
The pace of this game wasn’t as upbeat as fans might have expected. This was because both teams played the night before this game. The Cavaliers were able to grind out a 34-28 lead at the end of the first quarter. In the 2nd quarter the Cavaliers were out scored by the Nets, but they went into halftime with a 57-55 lead. In the 3rd quarter it appeared that fatigue set in on the Cavs. They only scored 13 points coming out after halftime. And they trailed the Nets at the end of the 3rd quarter 82-70. But in the 4th quarter the Cavs outscored the Nets 35-18 and won their 11th game in a row with the final score of 105-100.
Cavaliers forward Evan Mobley had a double-double with 23 points and 16 rebounds, and he was the Cavaliers leading scorer for this game. Up next for this Cavaliers team is to travel to Chicago and play the Bulls Monday at 8 pm EST, at the United Center. This Cavaliers team is finding ways to win and keep their win streak alive. Could Monday night be the night they go 12-0?
