Cavs Beat Pistons in home opener, 113-101
On Friday October 25th, the Cleveland Cavaliers hosted the Detroit Pistons at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. This game was the 2024 home opener for the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavaliers are coming off an impressive 30-point win to open their season in Toronto. The Pistons lost their opening game this season to the Indiana Pacers 115-109. With new head coach Kenny Atkinson, the Cavaliers looked impressive in their season opener. And this game was not any different.
The Cleveland Cavaliers had controlled the entire game. Even though they were down 29-28 after the first quarter, they outscored the Pistons in the second quarter 37-26. The Cavaliers led the Pistons at halftime 65-55. The Cavaliers momentum continued through the 3rd and 4th quarters, and they maintained their double-digit lead. They were able to be victorious over the Pistons by a score of 113-101. And for the second straight game the Cavaliers had 6 players with double digit points.
Guard Donovan Mitchell and forward Dean Wade both led the Cavaliers in scoring with 19 points each. Mitchell played 30 minutes and Wade played 27 minutes. Even more impressive was the contribution of guard Ty Jerome with 13 points in 16 minutes. Center Jarrett Allen had 17 points and 11 rebounds in 31 minutes giving himself another double-double. Head coach Kenny Atkinson has this team firing on all pistons if you would pardon the pun. So, what is next for this Cavaliers team?
