Browns vs. Cowboys Week 1 Season Opener Preview

On Sunday September 8th ,2024, at 4:25 pm eastern time, the Cleveland Browns will open their 2024 season hosting the Dallas Cowboys. This primetime nationally televised game on the Fox Network will be the broadcasting debut of Tom Brady. The game itself is an interesting matchup, both teams made the playoffs last season. An both teams lost their respective first round wildcard games in disappointing fashion. Both the Dallas Cowboys and the Cleveland Browns want to start their season with a big win.

In 2023 the Cleveland Browns had a record of 8-1 at home. The one loss at home was the last-minute start of rookie quarterback Dorian Thomson-Robinson. The Cleveland Browns defense at home was dominant and ranked at the top of the NFL. The Dallas Cowboys had all 5 losses in 2023 on the road. The Cleveland Browns had injury problems in 2023, but they are getting healthy at the right time.

Cleveland Browns offensive tackles Jed Wills, Jack Conklin, and James Hudson all returned from injury. CB Denzel Ward just cleared the concussion protocol. And CB Greg Newsome and DT Dalvin Thomlinson are back to practice this week. Dallas does have some issues due to injuries. Their top draft pick rookie OT Tyler Guyton had knee issues in training camp. And Cowboys guard Chuma Edoga was placed on injured reserve with a toe injury. WR Brandin Cooks is questionable with fellow receiver CeeDee Lamb being on the exempt list and out for the game. The Cowboys defense has injury issues as well.

Cowboys top defensive back Deron Bland was placed on injured reserve and is out for the game. Cowboys Pass rusher Sam Williams is out with a torn MCL. The first game of the season is important to win for both teams. The Cleveland Browns are early 2.5-point favorites in this game. That can change as the week of practice progresses. Winning a primetime season opener that is nationally televised would show that the Cleveland Browns have arrived. Maybe it is time that they finally do that and introduce themselves to the country watching on television.
