Browns vs. Bengals Preview of Week 7 Matchup

On Sunday October 20th ,2024, at 1 pm eastern time the Cleveland Browns 1-5 will host the division rival Cincinnati Bengals 2-4 for week 7 of the NFL season. This game opens 2024 division play for the Cleveland Browns.  The Bengals right now are a 4.5-point favorite as the visiting team in this game. The Cleveland Browns are trying to end a 4-game losing streak and the Bengals are coming off a Sunday Night Football win on the road against the New York Giants. The Browns are expected to get a much-needed boost in their running game this weekend.

It is expected that Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb will be activated for Sunday’s game against the Bengals. The near 14-month journey for Nick Chubb’s rehabilitation of his gruesome knee injury may finally be completed. Cleveland Browns fans will be energized by the mere presence of Nick Chubb in the Browns game day starting lineup. And the fans hope that the same energy will transfer to the Browns on the field. And the feeling is that this team needs to start winning games.

There is an ongoing drumbeat on social media from Cleveland Browns fans to bench quarterback Deshaun Watson. Despite the chatter to start backup quarterback Jameis Winston, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski is staying with Deshaun Watson and said that “Deshaun gives us the best chance to win”. Whether you agree or not with coach’s decision. He remains steadfast with his starting quarterback. One good thing about this game is that historically the Browns have matched up well against the Bengals.

In the last 3 years the Browns have won 4 out the last six games against the Bengals. And the Browns haven’t lost to the Bengals at home since 2017.  Recent history is on the Cleveland Browns side for this game. The best Browns fans can hope for is history to repeat itself.
