Browns RB Nick Chubb Practices, but when will he play?

On Wednesday October 2nd ,2024, Cleveland Browns pro bowl running back Nick Chubb took reps on the practice field. This is a monumental step in his rehabilitation from multiple knee surgeries.  Chubb’s last surgery was just short of 11 months ago. He did participate in individual drills and was listed as a limited participant on the practice injury report. There are many Cleveland Browns fans now wondering when will we see Nick Chubb on the field on game day?

In week 2 of the 2023 season, the Cleveland Browns were playing the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football. Late in the first quarter is when Nick Chubb suffered a knee injury so gruesome that ESPN wouldn’t show the replay. Chubb had to undergo two major reconstructive knee surgeries. The last one was in the middle of November of 2023.  Since then, Nick Chubb has worked tirelessly to rehab his surgically repaired knee. During the offseason on social media, videos surfaced of Chubb being superhuman in his rehab. Those videos gave hope to Browns fans of a speedy recovery and return to the Browns gameday roster. But the Browns had to pump the brakes after training camp.

After the 2024 training camp was wrapped up, the Cleveland Browns place Nick Chubb on the active PUP (physically unable to perform) list. He was eligible to practice in week 5 of the 2024 season. Now that Chubb is practicing, the Browns have 21 days to make a roster move regarding Chubb. I would guess that he will be back on the field for the week 7 Cincinnati Bengals home game. I wouldn’t expect the Browns to rush him back into action regardless of the Browns 1-3 record. This week was the next step in Nick Chubb’s recovery. A recovery that he has endured like the champion that he is.
