Browns look ahead to 2025 with Jerry Jeudy as a foundational player

The Cleveland Browns endured yet another season to forget in 2024 after dropping to a 3-14 record, and securing a top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Although it was not the season Browns fans wanted, there is one bright spot heading into next year: wide receiver Jerry Jeudy.

Back in March 2023, the Browns traded for then Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy by sending over their fourth and sixth round draft picks. At the time, there were many question marks surrounding Jeudy and his football production. The then 24-year-old prospect from the University of Alabama had yet to secure a 1,000-yard season and was labeled as an inconsistent athlete, oftentimes dropping key passes when it mattered most.

Despite these concerns, the Browns not only traded for him, six days later they locked him up for years to come. On March 19, 2023, Jeudy inked a three-year $58 million contract with $41 million being guaranteed. There was a significant number of fans questioning the decision but it ultimately paid off big time for the youthful and energetic receiver.

Many issues surround the Browns franchise and on January 5, 2024, head coach Kevin Stefanski decided to fire offensive line coach Andy Dickerson along with coordinator Ken Dorsey. These changes will directly impact the organization in their quest for consistency and positive results. With these changes, the team can finally rely on a foundational player on their roster. Jeudy’s production in 2024 exceeded expectations and is one of the lone bright spots as the team heads into the new year.

Jeudy finished 2024 with career highs in receiving yards and receptions, all of this coming with a revolving door at the quarterback position. He caught 90 receptions for 1,229 yards and four touchdowns, a 13.7 average yards per reception.

If the Browns find a long-term solution with their signal-caller, the production of Jeudy could even increase. The only negative part when it comes to the young receiver is his tendency to drop the football. He recorded nine drops, which was second most in the league in 2024 and the second highest in his career.

Ultimately, the Browns will look ahead to 2025 with many pieces that need answered. The one good thing is that the team does not need a number one receiver as Jeudy has shown glimpses of hope and can be a part of the future foundation.
