Browns vs. Dolphins Week 17 Preview

On Sunday December 29th at 4 pm eastern time, the 3-12 Cleveland Browns will host the 7-8 Miami Dolphins at Huntington Bank Field in downtown Cleveland Ohio. The Browns last game was a 24-6 loss in Cincinnati to the Cincinnati Bengals. The Dolphins last game was a 29-17 win at home against the San Francisco 49ers. Miami is still in the AFC playoff hunt and has a reason to win. The Browns are trying to end their disappointing season on a positive note. But most fans feel or don’t see them winning another game in the last two weeks of the 2024 season. Browns fans are talking draft pick and feel that it would better serve the team to lose the last two meaningless games to draft higher in April. I don’t necessarily agree with that. But I do agree that I don’t see this team winning another game.

The Cleveland Browns expect to start Dorian Thomson-Robinson again at quarterback. Jameis Winston is still benched and has a shoulder issue. The Dolphins are a 6.5-point favorite on the road. And I do expect the Cleveland Browns defense to keep the team in this game. What the Browns need to do is not commit turnovers and be productive on offense. In the second half against the Bengals the Browns offense was more productive with the run pass option plays. I would expect to see more of that in this game.

Also, despite the public endorsement by Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam. Speculation still exists that head coach Kevin Stefanski is coaching for his job. And that general manager Andrew Berry could be gone as well. If you are a team that is tanking for a higher draft pick? Then you can’t fire the head coach and general manager for tanking. If the team wins, then fans will be upset for falling in the draft order. If they lose, then they will be mad about losing. On Sunday the Browns can be damned if they do and damned if they don’t. Regardless of the NFL Draft in April.
