Browns at Bengals, Week 16 Preview
On Sunday December 22nd at 1 pm eastern time, the 3-11 Cleveland Browns will travel to Cincinnati Ohio to play the 6-8 Cincinnati Bengals at Paycor Stadium. The last time these two teams played the Bengals beat the Browns 21-14 at Huntington Bank Field on October 20th ,2024. The Bengals are an early 7-point favorite. The Browns usually match up well against the Bengals. But I think how this game will go depends on the Browns starting quarterback.
Jameis Winston threw 8 interceptions in the last three games as the Cleveland Browns starting quarterback. He was benched in the second half against the Kansas City Chiefs. Second year quarterback Dorian Thomson Robinson came into the game in relief. He did also throw an interception in the game. Despite that Dorian Thomson-Robinson will start against Cincinnati. The turnovers in the last three weeks have been the Browns downfall in this 3-game losing streak. It is a simple formula, clean up the turnovers and your team will have a much better chance of winning. But can the Browns clean up their act on offense?
The Cincinnati Bengals defense is ranked 27th in the NFL. They are plus 3 in the turnover ratio. Their offense is ranked 9th in the league. Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is having an MVP season. The Browns should be able to score on the Bengals defense. The keys for the Browns in this game is to not turn the ball over and- to contain the Bengals high powered offense. Saying or writing this and doing it are two different things. Fans, reporters, and podcasters think that it would be more of a benefit for the Browns to lose the last three games this season to get a higher draft pick. I disagree with that. Losing is contagious and it can be dangerous when it spreads through an organization. The only cure for it is winning.
