Brian Gutekunst Spotted At Alabama Pro Day

Anyone who is anyone in the NFL shows up at Alabama’s pro day. That was especially true for Green Bay Packers GM Brian Gutekunst, who was in attendance Wednesday. As Green Bay looks toward the NFL Draft next month, they will be looking to fill some of their biggest needs, especially when it comes to depth, at some of their most important positions. Those positions include safety, running back, offensive line, cornerback, and edge-rusher.

Alabama, as always, has some of the best prospects in the country. Cornerbacks Terrion Arnold and Kool-Aid McKinstry are two of the most exciting defensive backs in the draft. Both were named All-Americans last season. New defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, whose background is coaching defensive backs, wouldn’t mind seeing one of those guys in Green Bay.

Offensive tackle JC Latham is another elite Alabama player along the trenches. With Green Bay having a depth need at the tackle position after the losses of five-time All-Pro David Bakhtiari and role player Yosh Nijman, they could look into drafting Latham in the first round.

Or, perhaps Gutekunst will want to add some depth help on the edge. Alabama edge-rushers Dallas Turner and Justin Eboigbe combined for 17 sacks a season ago. With Packers edge-rusher Kingsley Enagbare blowing out his knee in Green Bay’s win over Dallas in the wildcard round in January, the team might be in need of some more depth there.

Regardless, Packers fans should be excited about seeing their GM down in Tuscaloosa. Adding one of the above talented prospects to a team that is seemingly always in Super Bowl contention would be a smart move no doubt.
