Around the NFC West: Week 2

The Seattle Seahawks got in the win column on Sunday with a 37-31 overtime win over the Detroit Lions. Geno Smith bounceback from a pretty rough week one to throw for 328 yards and two touchdowns including the six-yard game-winner to Tyler Lockett in overtime. Lockett had a big day as well with eight catches and two touchdowns. Smith spread the ball around finding nine different pass catchers on the day. The Seahawks host the Carolina Panthers in week three.

In Los Angeles, the San Francisco 49ers got out to a 2-0 start with a 30-23 win over the Rams. The 49ers rushing attack went off to the tune of 159 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. Christian McCaffrey led the way with 116 yards. For the Rams the story was once again rookie wide receiver Puka Nacua. Matthew Stafford targeted him a whopping 20 times. Nacua caught 15 of those passes for 147 yards. He set the NFL rookie record for receptions in his first two games with 25. The 49ers face off with the New York Giants on Thursday Night Football while the Rams travel to Cincinnati to take on the Bengals.

The Arizona Cardinals almost accidentally won a game in a year where they are obviously trying to tank, but Daniel Jones and the New York Giants rallied for 17 points in the fourth quarter to pull out a 31-28 win. It was a big day on the ground for the Cardinals with James Conner rushing for 106 yards and a touchdown and Joshua Dobbs adding 41 yards and a touchdown of his own. The Cardinals will try and stay winless this week against the Dallas Cowboys. That should not be much of a problem for them.
