Around the NFC South: Week 16

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers won their fourth straight game 30-12 over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. Baker Mayfield threw for 283 yards and two touchdowns. Both of the touchdown passes went to Mike Evans who had seven catches 84 yards on the afternoon. The Tampa Bay defense held the Jaguars to just 37 yards rushing on 13 attempts. They also had four sacks in the win. The Buccaneers take on the New Orleans Saints in week 17.

It was a bounce-back week for the Atlanta Falcons. After losing to the Carolina Panthers last week, they beat the Indianapolis Colts 29-10 this week. Bijan Robinson led the team with 122 yards from scrimmage. Taylor Heinicke got the start at quarterback and threw for 229 yards and a touchdown. He played well enough that he should probably be the starter for the rest of the season. The Falcons travel to Chicago to take on the Bears next week.

Derek Carr threw for 319 yards and three touchdowns but it was not enough as the New Orleans Saints fell to the Los Angeles Rams 30-22 on Thursday Night Football. Second-year standout wide receiver had an outstanding night catching nine passes for 123 yards. The Saints were unable to establish any type of run game. They only gained 35 yards on 16 carries. It is hard to win a football game like that. The Saints have a huge game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in week 17.

Bryce Young showed signs of being a franchise quarterback but the Carolina Panthers lost to the Green Bay Packers 33-30. Young threw for 312 yards and two touchdowns in the loss. DJ Chark had his best game as a Panther with six catches for 98 yards and two touchdowns. The Panthers travel to Jacksonville to take on the Jaguars next week.
