Around the NFC South: Week 15
Baker Mayfield threw for 381 yards and four touchdowns in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 34-20 win over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. Mayfield found seven different receivers on the afternoon and the touchdown passes went to four different guys. Chris Godwin had his best game of the season hauling in ten catches for 155 yards. Rachaad White added 139 all-purpose yards. The Buccaneers offense looks to be finding its footing. Tampa Bay takes on the Jacksonville Jaguars in week 16.
The New Orleans Saints bear the New York Giants 24-6 to keep pace in the NFC South standings. Derek Carr threw for 218 yards and three touchdowns in the win. Alvin Kamara finished the game with 100 yards from scrimmage. The Saints defense sacked Tommy DeVito seven times in the win. New Orleans will take on the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday Night Football this week.
It was a disastrous day for the Atlanta Falcons. They fell to the Carolina Panthers 9-7 to fall a game behind the division leaders. Desmond Ridder threw for just 152 yards with a touchdown and an interception. The Falcons averaged just 1.7 yards rushing in the contest. Owner Arthur Blank said Falcons head coach Arthur Smith would be back next season barring a late-season collapse. This could be the beginning of a late-season collapse. For the Panthers, Bryce Young threw for 167 yards and led the team on a 17-play 90-yard drive to set up the game-winning field goal as time expired. The Falcons take on the Indianapolis Colts next week while the Panthers take on the Green Bay Packers.
