Around the NFC North: Week 15
Jared Goff threw five touchdown passes en route to a 42-17 win over the Denver Broncos. Rookie tight end Sam LaPorta continued his fantastic freshman season with three receiving touchdowns. The two-headed rushing monster that is David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs ran for 185 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries. You are going to win a lot of games when your quarterback throws five touchdowns and your running backs average 6.6 yards per carry. The Lions travel to Minnesota to take on the Vikings this week with a chance to wrap up the NFC North.
Ty Chandler had 132 yards rushing and one touchdown, and Jordan Addison had 111 yards receiving with two touchdowns, but it was not enough as the Minnesota Vikings fell to the Cincinnati Bengals 27-24 in overtime on Saturday. Nick Mullens played much better in his second start throwing for 303 yards but he did throw two interceptions in the loss. Minnesota falls to 7-7 on the season. The Vikings host the Detroit Lions in week 16.
The Green Bay Packers fell 34-20 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. Jordan Love had another solid outing throwing for 284 yards and two touchdowns in the loss. Dontayvion Wicks also had a nice day with six catches for 97 yards. The real problem for Green Bay in this one was they allowed Baker Mayfield to throw for 381 yards and three touchdowns. The Packers will try to keep their dim playoff hopes alive next week against the Carolina Panthers.
Darnell Mooney had a chance to catch a Hail Mary from Justin Fields as time expired in regulation, but the ball bounced off his chest and ended up in the arms of a defender. The game would go to overtime and the Chicago Bears would fall to the Cleveland Browns 20-17. Fields and the Bears offense had trouble getting anything going against a really good Browns defense. Fields was picked off twice and the rushing attack for Chicago was only able to manage 88 yards on 27 carries. The Bears will host the Arizona Cardinals in week 16.
