Around the NFC West: Week 14
The San Francisco 49ers won their fifth straight game on Sunday when they beat the Seattle Seahawks 28-16 on Sunday. Brock Purdy was excellent again throwing for 368 yards and two touchdowns. It was a big receiving day for both Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk. Samuel had seven catches for 149 yards and two touchdowns, one receiving and one rushing. Aiyuk had six catches for 126 yards. Christian McCaffrey did not find the end zone, but he did rush for 145 yards in the contest. Seattle played the game without Geno Smith due to an injury. Drew Lock threw for 269 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions while filling in for Smith. The loss puts the Seahawks in a really tough spot when it comes to the playoff picture. They are going to need a lot of wins and a lot of help down the stretch to get in. The 49ers play the Cardinals in week 15 while the Seahawks take on the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football this week.
It was another tough loss for the Los Angeles Rams this week in overtime against the Baltimore Ravens. They fell 37-31 on a walk-off punt return after forcing a three and out. Matthew Stafford was great in the loss throwing for 294 yards and three touchdowns. The Rams also got 114 yards on the ground from Kyren Williams. Just like the Seahawks, the Rams now face an uphill battle to make it into the playoffs. That battle starts on Sunday against the Washington Commanders.
The Arizona Cardinals were on their bye in week 14 and face the 49ers in week 15.
