Around the NFC East: Week 16
It was an entertaining game on Christmas Day between the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles. The Giants fought hard in the fourth quarter but it was not enough as the Eagles won 33-25 behind 301 passing yards and two total touchdowns from Jalen Hurts. He found seven different pass catches on the day. Philadelphia found a lot of success on the ground with 170 yards on 35 carries. The Giants got a pick-six from Adoree’ Jackson to give them life in the fourth quarter. New York had the ball at the Eagles 26 with four seconds left to play but Tyrod Taylor was picked off by Kelee Ringo as time expired. The Eagles play the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday while the Giants play the Los Angeles Rams.
The Dallas Cowboys lost to the Miami Dolphins 22-20 when Jason Sanders hit a 29-yard field goal as time expired. Dak Prescott was solid in the loss throwing for 253 yards and two touchdowns. He added 25 yards rushing. CeeDee Lamb continued what should be a Pro Bowl season for him with six catches for 118 yards and a touchdown. Brandin Cooks had the other touchdown on a really nice catch. The Cowboys take on the Detroit Lions on Saturday night.
The Washington Commanders lost their sixth straight game 30-28 to the New York Jets. Sam Howell threw two interceptions and was replaced by Jacoby Brissett who ended the day with 100 yards passing a touchdown. The Commanders will most likely be in the market for a quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft. Washington had a lead late in the fourth quarter but gave up an eight-play 31-yard drive that ended in the game-winning field goal for the Jets. The Commanders face the San Francisco 49ers in week 17.
