Around the NFC East: Week 12
All the Philadelphia Eagles do this year is win close football games. This week they knocked the Buffalo Bills off in overtime 37-34. Jalen Hurts led the Eagles on a field goal drive to tie the game with just over a minute left in regulation and a touchdown drive to win the game after the Philadelphia defense held the Bills offense to a field goal on the opening possession of the extra period. Hurts ended the day with five total touchdowns, three passing and two rushing. Devonta Smith led the Eagles receivers with seven catches for 106 yards and a touchdown. The Eagles host the San Francisco 49ers in a huge NFC showdown on Sunday.
It was an easy Thanksgiving afternoon for the Dallas Cowboys who beat the Washington Commanders 45-10. Dak Prescott had a great game throwing for 331 yards and four touchdowns. Those four touchdowns were all caught by different receivers. Brandin Cooks led the way with four catches for 72 yards and a touchdown. Tony Pollard was very efficient on the ground turning his 13 carries into 79 yards and a touchdown. The Dallas defense also had a great game sacking Sam Howell four times and returning an interception for a touchdown. It was a long day at the office for the Commanders. Howell did end the day with 300 yards passing but did not throw a touchdown and threw an interception. Curtis Samuel was his favorite target on the day catching nine passes for 100 yards. The Cowboys host the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night Football this week. The Commanders host the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.
The New York Giants eeked out a 10-7 win over the New England Patriots. Fans in New York probably are not happy with the win because it hurts their 2024 draft position. That is all the Giants are playing for at this point. Rookie receiver Jalin Hyatt had his best game of his career catching five passes for 109 yards. The New York defense had two sacks and held the Patriots to just 143 yards passing on the day. The Giants have their bye in week 13.
