Around the AFC South: Week 14
Trevor Lawrence started for the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns after suffering what looked like a pretty bad injury the Monday night before. Lawrence is apparently a good actor. If only he played quarterback as well as he acted. He threw three interceptions in the Jaguars 31-27 loss on Sunday. Evan Engram, however, had a really good game catching 11 passes for 95 yards and two touchdowns. Lawrence was not good, but it was the Jacksonville defense that really let the team down. They allowed Joe Flaccco to throw for 311 yards and three touchdowns. The Jaguars will face the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football this week.
The Indianapolis Colts were the latest AFC South team to fall to the Jake Browning-led Cincinnati Bengals 34-14. It was a tough day at the office for Gardner Minshew and the Colts offense. They were only able to get into the end zone once. The other Indianapolis touchdown came on a pick-six. As bad as the Colts offense was, the defense was even worse. Browning got them for two passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown. The Colts face the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday in week 15.
Speaking of rough days on offense, the Houston Texans lost 30-6 to the New York Jets on Sunday. C.J. Stroud had to leave the game after suffering a concussion. He was struggling before he left the game throwing for just 91 yards on 23 attempts and was sacked four times. The Houston defense had no answer for Zach Wilson. In his return as the starter, he threw for 301 yards and two touchdowns. The Texans travel to Tennessee to take on the Titans on Sunday.
The Tennessee Titans became the first team to ever win a game without overtime when being down 14 points with less than four minutes in the game when they beat the Miami Dolphins 28-27 on Monday Night Football. Will Levis became the first rookie to ever throw for more than 300 yards in a Monday night game when he threw for 327 yards and a touchdown. DeAndre Hopkins continued his solid season with seven catches for 124 yards and a touchdown. The Titans defense got after Tua Tagovailoa sacking him five times. The Titans host the Texans in week 15.
