Around the AFC South: Week 13

It was a tough week for the Jacksonville Jaguars. They had a chance to pull into a tie with a win on Monday Night Football. The Jaguars were nine-point favorites in the game but fell 34-31 to the Cincinnati Bengals in overtime. They also lost starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence to a high-ankle sprain. Lawrence had a good night before leaving the game throwing for 258 yards and a touchdown. It was not enough though as the Jaguars’ defense had no answer for Jake Browning and Ja’Marr Chase. Giving up 354 yards passing at home to a backup quarterback is rough. The Jaguars travel to Cleveland to take on the Browns on Sunday.

The Indianapolis Colts got a 31-28 overtime win on Sunday over the Tennessee Titans. Gardner Minshew was really good in the game throwing for 312 yards and two touchdowns. He led the five-play 75-yard game-winning drive in overtime that culminated when he found Michael Pittman in the end zone from four yards out. Pittman had a huge day catching 11 passes for 105 yards and that touchdown. Derrick Henry was having a really good game for the Titans before he had to leave the game after being evaluated for a concussion. Henry ended the day with 21 carries for 102 yards and two touchdowns. Rookie quarterback Will Levis threw for 224 yards and a touchdown. He led the Titans on a drive that ended with a field goal in overtime, but it was not enough as the Titans’ defense could not stop the Colts on the ensuing possession. The Colts will face the Cincinnati Bengals in week 14 and the Titans face the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night football.

The Houston Texans ended the Denver Broncos win streak on Sunday when they won 22-17 at home. It was another solid day for rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud. He threw for 274 yards and a touchdown. Nico Collins went off to the tune of nine catches for 191 and a touchdown. There was some bad news for the Texans as they lost rookie WR Tank Dell to a season-ending injury. Dell finishes his rookie season with 709 yards and seven touchdowns. The Texans travel to New York to take on the Jets on Sunday.
