Around the AFC South: Week 10
The Houston Texans continue to be one of the biggest surprises in the league. They went to Cincinnati and beat the Bengals 30-27. Rookie C.J. Stroud got the better of Joe Burrow in this one. Stroud finished the day 23 of 39 for 356 yards with one passing touchdown and one rushing touchdown. He put together a five-play 55-yard drive to set up the game-winning field goal after the Texans got the ball back with just 1:33 left in the game. Noah Brown was Stroud’s favorite target on the day catching seven passes for 172 yards. No one expected the Texans to be a contender this year but they find themselves just one game behind the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Texans have a home game against the Arizona Cardinals in week 11.
Speaking of the Jaguars, they were blown out at home 34-3 at home on Sunday by the San Francisco 49ers. It was a tough day for Trevor Lawrence who threw for just 185 yards with zero touchdowns and two interceptions in the loss. The Jaguars as a team managed just 221 yards of total offense on the day. While Jacksonville still has a one-game lead in the AFC South, they do not look like a Super Bowl contender through 10 weeks. They host the Tennessee Titans in week 11.
The Indianapolis Colts won a 10-6 game against the New England Patriots in Germany on Sunday. It was an ugly game for both sides but the Colts defense did enough to secure the win. They held the Patriots to just 173 yards through the air and came up with two interceptions, the second of which came with just 36 seconds left in the game. The Colts have their bye week this week.
It was a disastrous week 10 for the Titans who lost 20-6 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road. It has now been a calendar year since the Titans won a road game. Rookie Will Levis has been promising for Tennessee, but until they get their offensive line fixed they are not going to be scoring many points. The Titans head to Jacksonville this week to take on the Jaguars.
