Around the AFC North: Week 17
With their 56-19 beatdown of the Miami Dolphins, the Baltimore Ravens clinched the number one overall seed in the AFC. Lamar Jackson also most likely clinched the NFL MVP award with his 321 passing yards and five passing touchdowns. Zay Flowers had his second big game in a row with three catches for 106 yards and a touchdown. Justice Hill added 112 all-purpose yards and a receiving touchdown. The Ravens play the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday in week 18.
Joe Flacco did it again for the Cleveland Browns in their 37-20 win over the New York Jets on Thursday night. Flacco threw for 309 yards and three touchdowns in the win. David Njoku had a big night with six catches for 134 yards. Cleveland’s defense added a pick-six and a blocked kick in the win. The job Jim Schwartz has done as the defensive coordinator this season for the Browns has been nothing short of phenomenal. The Browns play the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.
Mason Rudolph has cemented himself as the Pittsburgh Steelers’ starting quarterback. He threw for 274 yards and did not turn the ball over in Pittsburgh’s 30-23 win over the Seattle Seahawks, but it was the running backs that carried the offense. Najee Harris carried the ball 27 times for 122 yards and two touchdowns. Jaylen Warren added 13 carries for 75 yards and a touchdown. The Steelers need a win over the Baltimore Ravens and some week 18 help to make the playoffs.
The Cincinnati Bengals were unable to hold a second half lead on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs scored 12 unanswered points to secure a 25-17 win over the Bengals. Jake Browning was solid again throwing for 197 yards and a touchdown. The loss knocked the Bengals out of the playoff race. They wrap up their season with a week 18 game against the Cleveland Browns.
