Around the AFC East: Week 15

The Miami Dolphins bounced back from their Monday night meltdown with a 30-0 win eliminate the New York Jets from playoff contention. Tua Tagovailoa completed 21 of 24 passes for 224 yards and a touchdown. Jaylen Waddle stepped up in Tyreek Hill’s absence to catch eight passes for 142 yards and a touchdown. Raheem Mostert scored two more rushing touchdowns to bring his league-leading total to 20 on the season. For the Jets, Zach Wilson was forced to leave the game at halftime but not before throwing two interceptions. Trevor Siemian took over for Wilson but could not get anything going. The loss probably means that Aaron Rodgers will not return this season. The Dolphins take on the Cowboys next week while the Jets take on the Washington Commanders.

The Buffalo Bills kept their hopes of an AFC East title alive with a huge 31-10 win over the Dallas Cowboys. James Cook was sensation once again rushing for 179 yards and a touchdown and catching two passes for 42 yards and another touchdown. Cook’s emergence has taken a lot of pressure off of Josh Allen who was pressing too much at the beginning of the season. On a day where the Bills scored 31 points Allen only threw for 94 yards. The even bigger story here might be the fact that the Bills defense held the Cowboys offense to just 10 points. Dallas had not scored less than 30 points in a game in over a month. The Bills take on the Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday.

In New England, the Patriots picked off Patrick Mahomes twice, but it was not enough as they lost 27-17 to the Kansas City Chiefs. The loss dropped the Patriots to 3-11 on the season. Bailey Zappe threw for just 180 yards and was sacked four times. New England averaged just 5.8 yards per pass attempt and 3.3 yards per carry. The whole offense needs an overhaul. The Patriots take on the Denver Broncos in week 16.
