Around the AFC East: Week 13

Tyreek Hill is putting together a special season. He had five catches for 157 yards and two touchdowns in the Miami Dolphins’ 45-14 win over the Washington Commanders this week. Hill now has 1,481 yards receiving on the season. That means he just needs to average less than 97 yards per game for the rest of the season to break Calvin Johnson’s single-season receiving yards record of 1,964 yards. As if having to contend with Hill was not enough for opposing defenses, De’Von Achane took over as the lead back for Miami in this one. He scored twice and racked up 103 all-purpose yards. The Dolphins host the Tennessee Titans on Monday Night Football this week.

The Tim Boyle experiment did not last very long for the New York Jets. Boyle was benched in favor of Trevor Siemian in the Jets’ 13-8 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. The pair combined for just 214 yards passing in the loss. The only good thing to say about the Jets at this point is that their defense is still playing at a very high level. They only allowed 121 yards passing, 90 yards rushing, and sacked Desmond Ridder three times. There is talk New York might go back to Zach Wilson in week 14 when the Jets take on the Houston Texans. Good luck with that.

Speaking of bad offenses with a good defense, the New England Patriots lost to the Los Angeles Chargers 6-0 on Sunday. Bailey Zappe played the whole game at quarterback for the Patriots and the results were underwhelming. He threw for 141 yards and was sacked five times. New England did pile up 148 yards rushing on the day, so that’s something. The Patriots travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers on Thursday Night Football. The over/under in that game might be set at 12.

The Buffalo Bills were on their bye in week 13. They take on the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead in week 14.
