Around the AFC East: Week 1

The biggest story in all of the NFL for week one took place when Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles on Monday Night Football against the Buffalo Bills. The biggest hype story of the NFL offseason was over before Rodgers ever attempted a pass for the New York Jets. The hopes and dreams of the Jets now rest on the shoulders of Zach Wilson. That probably won’t end well, but they were able to get the win on Monday over the Buffalo Bills. That was due in large part to the fact that Josh Allen threw three interceptions in the loss. There will be better days ahead for Allen and the Bills. Buffalo is on the road to face the Los Vegas Raiders in week two while the Jets travel to Dallas to take on the Cowboys.

The New England Patriots suffered a tough loss at home against the Philadelphia Eagles in week one. The Patriots had two chances to stage a comeback late in the game when they forced a Jalen Hurts fumble and then stopped the Eagles on a fourth down attempt. Mac Jones and the New England offense were not able to get points on either drive and they lost 25-20. The Patriots face off against the Dolphins an AFC East week two showdown.

Speaking of the Dolphins, they won the most exciting game of the weekend 36-34 over the Los Angeles Chargers. Tua Tagovailoa was fantastic in this game throwing for 466 yards and three touchdowns. Tyreek Hill was on the receiving end of 215 of those yards. Miami’s defense was gashed on the ground to the tune of 234 yards, but it did not matter. The Dolphins face off against the Patriots next week.
