A Week 12 Preview of the Prime-Time Matchup vs. Pittsburgh

On Thursday night on November 21st ,2024, the Cleveland Browns will host their division rival Pittsburgh Steelers for the Browns first Prime-Time game of the 2024 season. Last season the Browns split the season series 1-1. Each team won their respective home games. The Steelers are an interesting opponent for the Browns. The reason being is that we are not sure who will be starting at quarterback for the Steelers by week 12.

In the 2024 offseason, the Pittsburgh Steelers revamped their offense. They hired former Atlanta Falcons head coach Arthur Smith to replace Matt Canada as offensive coordinator. Canada was fired in the middle of the 2023 season. Also, quarterback Kenny Pickett was traded to the Eagles. And backup quarterback Mason Rudolph left for the Tennessee Titans. Steelers General Manager Omar Khan acquired free agent quarterback Russell Wilson who was released by the Denver Broncos. And he traded for quarterback Justin Fields from the Chicago Bears. Going into 2024, it is speculated that the Steelers starting quarterback will be Russell Wilson. However, things can change by week 12.  The Cleveland Browns expect to have Deshaun Watson healthy for the 2024 season.

The Pittsburgh Steelers is the only division opponent that Deshaun Watson has not beaten yet. He is 0-2 against them. Both games were played in Pittsburgh that Watson and the Browns lost. This would be the first time he plays the Steelers in Cleveland. The previous two seasons Watson was either injured or suspended for the Browns Steelers games at Cleveland Browns Stadium.

This game is the start of the late season playoff push for both the Browns and the Steelers. In a division where any of the four teams can win the AFC North Title, every game is important. And games against division opponents are twice as important. The Cleveland Browns and their fans know that no one in the NFL is going to give them a championship. In order get that championship they must take it. And taking it starts at home against Pittsburgh.
