A look at Yale Offensive Tackle Kiran Amegadjie

On April 25-27 the NFL Draft will be held in Detroit Michigan. The Cleveland Browns will have to wait until the second round to make their first pick. This is due to the 2022 Deshaun Watson trade. Browns fans are hoping that General Manager Andre Berry will be able to work his magic and find later round talent to develop for the team’s future.

Yale Offensive Tackle Kiran Amegadjie is a player that is on the Cleveland Browns draft radar. He is an Ivy League prospect. Which means that he is very smart. And he would fit in well with Andrew Berry from Harvard and Kevin Stefanski from Penn. A player’s intelligence is an intangible that teams love in draft prospects. Amegadjie’ s measurables are even more impressive.

Kiran Amegadjie is 6’ 5” tall and weighs 323 lbs. His 40-yard dash time was 5.10 seconds. His 225 lb. bench press was for 21 reps at his pro day. His strength would have to be developed. An NFL player his size should be able to bench press 225 lbs. for 30 consecutive reps. His size and potential would make him a solid day 2 draft pick. The question is where do the Cleveland Browns rate him?

This week the Cleveland Browns had Amegadjie in for a pre-draft visit. The Browns appear to be doing their due diligence on this offensive tackle prospect. I have seen mock drafts that have him going as early as the first round. However, most experts have him as a late second round or mid third round prospect. Considering that Jed Wills is on the final year of his contract and Jack Conklin has been riddled with injuries. Drafting a developmental tackle like Kiran Amegadjie makes sense for the Cleveland Browns. But what makes sense doesn’t always happen. Browns fans will have to wait and see if it does make sense on day 2 of the NFL Draft.
