A look at the Denzel Ward vs. CeeDee Lamb Week 1 matchup

On Sunday September 8th ,2024, at 4:25pm eastern time the Cleveland Browns will host the Dallas Cowboys to start their 2024 season. There are some intriguing matchups for this game and one of them is Cleveland Browns cornerback Denzel Ward against Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. Both have had eventful off seasons in 2024.

CeeDee Lamb was a hold out for almost all the Dallas Cowboys 2024 training camp. He was seeking a significant pay raise, and he got it. Lamb received a 4-year $136 million dollar extension from the Dallas Cowboys. He signed his deal on August 26th .2024, he is currently on the exempt status list for week 1. He is expected to be given a roster spot and ready to play on Sunday. This exempt status was because of his holdout situation over his contract. He was late to arrive at training camp and has been limited in practice. He is reported to not be injured. Cleveland Browns cornerback Denzel Ward had his own issues this off season.

Denzel Ward suffered his 5th concussion of his NFL career in training camp while tackling wide receiver Elijah Moore. He was placed in the NFL’s concussion protocol. Ward has been cleared from the protocol since last week. And he is trying a new state of the art helmet to prevent further concussions. Despite that concerns for his well-being still exist. And with the off-season events this matchup will not be short of drama.

Both Ward and Lamb are among the best in the NFL at their respective positions. It is the type of matchup that NFL fans want to see. If the Browns feel that they have an elite defense and are Super Bowl contenders. Then they want to go up against the best in the league. What better test to start the season than CeeDee Lamb and the Dallas Cowboys? Can the Browns and Denzel Ward start the season with a win? We will have to watch and see.
