A look at the Browns Rookie Wide Receiver Jamari Thrash
This week the Cleveland Browns open their 2024 training camp. The rookies reported on Monday and the veteran players reported on Tuesday. There are both veteran and rookie players to watch in training camp and preseason. One rookie wide receiver is an intriguing prospect.
Rookie wide receiver Jamari Thrash was drafted in the 5th round by the Cleveland Browns in the 2024 draft. In college he played at the University of Louisville. The former Cardinal was the 156th overall pick and the 21st pick in the 5th round. He is 6 feet 0 inches tall and weighs 190 lbs. He ran a 4.46 second 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine last February. He is considered a solid pick in the 5th round. But the real question is how he could impact the team this season?
To be honest, a lot depends on Jamari Thrash’s impact for the Cleveland Browns this season. He could get opportunities to play in specific offensive packages during the season. He could make his best impression on fans in the preseason. Also, injury circumstances could give him opportunities to play. Let’s all hope that is not the reason he plays in 2024.
I believe Thrash was a developmental pick to add depth at wide receiver. Currently the Browns top 3 receivers are Amari Cooper, Jerry Jeudy, and Elijah Moore. With previous 3rd round draft picks David Bell and Cedric Tillman on the roster, the wide receiver room is crowded. Thrash will have an uphill battle for playing time. His best option to impact the team will probably be with the special team’s unit.
In Thrash’s final year in college football, he played wide receiver and special teams gunner for the University of Louisville Cardinals. He could be useful for special team’s coordinator Bubba Ventrone as a punt coverage gunner. With the 2024 Cleveland Browns roster being as good as it is, Thrash will be given an opportunity to develop into a productive NFL wide receiver. He will not be rushed into playing time he is not ready for. Because the Cleveland Browns are ready to contend.
