Tetairoa McMillan | WR | Arizona

Height: 6’5″
Weight: 212 lbs
Draft Projection: Mid 1st
Notable Accomplishment: 2024 Biletnikoff Award Finalist; 2024 AP First-Team All-American

Pros: McMillan is an imposing force on the perimeter who can high-point the football as good as any receiver in this draft. Now, I do not want to take attention away from his physicality and body control, but those traits are more expected in bigger receivers. What makes McMillan different from just another ‘big receiver’ is his elusiveness and fluidity as a route runner. He defies his 6’5″ frame by displaying outstanding footwork, impressive agility, and above average quickness in and out of cuts. Receivers his size should not be able to move the way he does. Ball skills are not talked about specifically when evaluating receivers as much as they should be, but I have come away impressed with McMillan’s ability to track the ball and extend his arms through traffic to pinpoint the trajectory of the ball and come down with tough catches consistently. He possesses good hands, he looks incredibly natural catching back shoulder passes, and he always secures the catch before looking upfield.

Cons: Subtilty as a route runner is one of the few traits McMillan does not possess. While his route-running is smooth for a big receiver, he is not deceptive at all. He has not seen success with stutters, double moves, or even crossing routes. He has found a way to produce by simply being the better football player in one-on-one battles in coverage, but in the NFL, creating separation requires more than simply being more athletic than your opponent. I would also like to see better acceleration from McMillan off the line of scrimmage. He is a bit sluggish coming off the line, and it can sometimes allow more physical corners to get ideal positioning and force him off his route.

Overview: McMillan is not a sure thing at receiver, but it is hard to find another pure receiver to rank ahead of him. His skill set projects well to the NFL game overall, and his maturity as a prospect will allow him to make a significant difference in his rookie season. If he runs well in the 40, we could see McMillan land inside the top 10, and if he runs poorly, he could easily drop outside the top 20. At the end of the day, I believe a team in the middle of Round 1 will snag him, but speed is the only unanswered question.
