NFL QB Index Heading After Week 4: Who sits at the top?
The quarterback position in the NFL is the most important in all of sports.
Teams search each year for that franchise answer to lead their teams for years to come. It is not always an easy search but teams eventually land on their guy. Fans are hoping this is the case in Washington as Jayden Daniels put on a show on Monday night for the Commanders.
Others have enjoyed the luxury of a franchise quarterbacks for years now and the are the teams in the best position to win.
Below, take a look at the quarterback rankings heading into Week 4.
Week 4 NFL QB Index
- Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills: The offense in Buffalo has completely opened up with the loss of Stefon Diggs, which many did not think would happen. James Cook is emerging into an elite running back and Allen continues to spread the ball around effectively. He is taking his game to the next level.
- Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs: Mahomes is the best player in the sport and that is the reason the Chiefs have a chance to three-peat this season. He remains in the top two despite the Chiefs not showing off their explosive nature just yet. There is more to come in Kansas City.
- Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens: The Ravens have used Jackson primarily as a runner this season. He continues to be inconsistent throwing the football and it has shown in the biggest moments of the game. The addition of Derrick Henry has helped in the run game and will be a driving force as the Ravens look to turn it around.
- Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals: The Bengal are off to an 0-3 start but Burrow has continued to deliver at a high level. He went for over 300 yards and three touchdowns on Monday night, finding Jamar Chase early and often.
- CJ Stroud, Houston Texans: Stroud can’t be perfect all the time. Up until this point, he has been. On Sunday, he was taken apart by an impressive Minnesota defense. Stroud has elite weapons in the backfield and outside and this has led to a big start.
- Sam Darnold, Minnesota Vikings: It is foreign to see Darnold this high but he has benefitted greatly from having Kevin O’Connell on the sideline. He has thrown eight touchdowns during the Vikings’ 3-0 start this season. He is finding Justin Jefferson frequently, which is always a winning strategy.
- Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys: Prescott continues to be one of the most controversial quarterbacks in the league. He has found a bit of rhythm up until this point but continues to show different inconsistencies. The Cowboys offense is not clicking at 100% just yet.
- Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams: Stafford has dealt with injuries on the outside with both Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua going down. He has helped keep the Rams above water in Week 3, which shows his experience and prowess.
- Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals: Murray is healthy and the Arizona Cardinals look like a fun defense to this point. It is not a perfect product but the addition of Marvin Harrison Jr. has been huge for Murray.
- Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers: Purdy has also dealt with injuries on the outside but helped the Niners get in a position to win on Sunday. He elevated the play of Jauan Jennings and this is the sign of a good coaching staff and competent quarterback.
