NFL Fantasy Football: Start ‘Em/Sit ‘Em Quarterbacks For Week 3

There have been some changes at the quarterback position already.

First, the Carolina Panthers have benched former No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young in favor of Andy Dalton. The Green Bay Packers are also moving forward with Malik Willis in the absence of Jordan Love. The quarterbacks around the league have also suffered some losses on the outside.

Below, check out some start/sit options for Week 3.

Start ‘Em

Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals: Quarterbacks have had field days against the defense of the Washington Commanders over the last two years. This season is no different as both Baker Mayfield and Daniel Jones looked comfortable. Expect the Bengals to be able to throw the ball at will with Burrow and a strong group of receivers.

Jayden Daniels, Washington Commanders: On the other side of burrow, the Commanders will look to get Jayden Daniels going. He has impressed through two games. Daniels has been a dual-threat that was expected coming in and has scored twice on the ground. This will be a game with some points. Daniels will put up yardage and hope to sore touchdowns this week instead of kicking field goals.

Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals: The Cardinals got Marvin Harrison Jr. going last week and this will be a big boost for Kyler Murray moving forward. The total on this matchup with the Detroit Lions is high and Arizona knows that it will have to score to keep up. Murray looks healthy and the Cardinals have a different vibe this season. He will be going up against the defense that has allowed the third-most fantasy points to quarterbacks on the road since last season.

Derek Carr, New Orleans Saints: The Saints have been the surprise of the season so far, scoring 45 points per game. Klint Kubiak has found an identity for this offense and Derek Carr has looked like a different players getting all weapons involved. The secondary of the Philadelphia Eagles has struggled and will face a difficult test here.

Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Bucs: The Bucs are 2-0 and a revitalized Baker Mayfield has been the catalyst. They recently went out to Detroit and upset the Lions and will return home to face the lowly Broncos. Mayfield and the Bucs can keep it going against a rookie quarterback and a defense that is still trying to put it together.

Sit ‘Em

Anthony Richardson, Indianapolis Colts: Richardson has been hard to trust over the course of his career. Of course, last year the season was lost to injury. In Week 1, Richardson hit multiple big plays to carry his performance before an uneven day in Week 2. Richardson brings a dual-threat skillset but his inconsistencies make him a sit in Week 3.

Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers: The Chargers rolled against the Carolina Panthers last week but it was on the ground. Herbert made a minimal impact, scoring just 11 points. The Jim-Harbaugh led Chargers have won in the trenches and using the ground game. Herbert has taken care of the ball but is not putting up the big numbers needed from a starting fantasy QB. The road gets tougher against one of the league’s best defenses in Week 3.

Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams: Stafford and the 0-2 Rams have not looked right yet and the schedule does them no favors this week against the San Francisco 49ers. He has lost his top two wide receivers in Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua to injury and the weapons are thin on the outside.

Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars: Lawrence has not totaled 25 fantasy points yet this season through two games. He has not reached 15 points in each of his last six games. Lawrence should be rostered in all leagues but is not trustworthy to start right now, especially against a rolling Bills team.

Kirk Cousins, Atlanta Falcons: Cousins was one of the top scorers in fantasy last year before suffering a torn Achilles. This season, there have been some transitional pains going to Atlanta. He put up 17.5 points last week, with a large portion coming on the final drive, against the Eagles last week but is difficult to trust this week. If you believe the ball will be in the air a lot against the Kansas City Chiefs, it could be a spot start for Cousins but do not take the risk.
