New York Yankees Stay Alive with 11-4 Victory in World Series Game 4
Getting swept in the World Series is not the New York Yankees’ way.
The Bronx Bombers avoided this fate by pounding the Los Angeles Dodgers 11-4 on Tuesday night in Game 4.
The Yankees will try to avoid elimination again when they host the Dodgers tonight in Game 5.
MORE FREDDIE?
Freddie Freeman made World Series history for the Dodgers with a two-run homer in the top of the first. He has homered in a record six consecutive World Series games, dating back to 2020.
The Yankees scored in the second inning on a groundout by Alex Verdugo before Anthony Volpe’s grand slam launched the Yankees into a 5-2 lead in the third.
The Dodgers came back with two runs in the fifth. Will Smith slapped a solo homer to right-center field, and Freeman’s ground ball scored another run.
TOO MUCH FIREPOWER
However, the Yankees scored the final six runs to put the game away. Austin Wells hit a solo homer in the sixth to increase the lead to 6-4.
New York scored five more in the eighth on a fielder’s choice by Verdugo, a three-run bomb by Gleyber Torres, and a single by Aaron Judge.
YOU’RE OUTTA HERE
Speaking of Torres, his foul ball in the first inning led to a case of fan interference. Dodgers right fielder Mookie Betts caught the ball, but two fans tangled up with him and the ball popped loose.
Torres was called out, and the two fans were ejected from the game.
The Game 1 starting pitchers will return tonight, as Jack Flaherty pitches for Dodgers against Yankees ace Gerrit Cole.
